Wing Chun Kung Fu can be traced back to the Shaolin Temple in Fu Jian Province and dates back approximately 400 years to the Qing Dynasty. It is at this time that Ng Mui a Buddhist nun escaped from the temple with five other monks after Qing forces burnt the temple down, out of fear of the monks at the temple, and their ‘martial art skills.
Ng Mui, the Buddhist nun who escaped the temple, met a young woman by the name of Yim Wing Chun (roughly translated as ‘Beautiful Springtime’) who told Ng Mui about the advances an unwanted suitor. Ng Mui decided to teach Yim Wing Chun how to fight off her unwanted suitor and after Yim Wing Chun won the fight Ng Mui decided to name the style of martial art Wing Chun.

The skill was now passed down from generation to generation until it reached one of its most famous exponents, the late Great Grandmaster Ip Man, who’s most famous student was Bruce Lee ‘The Little Dragon’.
After the very sad passing of Great Grandmaster Ip Man, the torch was taken up by his eldest son Grandmaster Ip Chun who has devoted his life to spreading Wing Chun across world. Even now at the wonderful age of 91 years old, his skill is still unsurpassed. Grandmaster Ip Chun passed this skill onto Master Michael Tse who is Grandmaster Ip Chun’s most senior student teaching Wing Chun Kung Fu in Europe.
